It Won’t Work!

Recently, someone I love dearly experienced something very terrible. This person has already gone through many challenging events in his life, and lately has been seeing breakthrough and blessings like never before. Yet, the enemy came and brought his wickedness with him.

What the enemy failed to realize is that my loved one is a child of the Most High God, and although he was able to slip in, he would not ultimately prevail. Jesus said in John 10:10 that “the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (NIV). What is the enemy trying to steal, kill, and destroy? He wants to steal your joy and peace. He wants to kill your hopes and dreams.  He wants to destroy your mind. He wants to deposit fear that paralyzes and renders you powerless. He wants to distract us with circumstances and thoughts to keep us from dwelling on the word of God and His promises. He doesn’t want us remembering who we are in Christ, and that through Him we have authority and victory over him.

Isaiah 54:17 says “no weapon formed against you shall prosper” (NKJV). That means that although a weapon may be formed, and even used, it will not prosper in doing the harm it was designed to inflict. We may go through some extremely hard and painful circumstances, but it will not steal our joy and peace. It will not destroy our mind. It will not paralyze us with fear. We will walk in the fullness of God. We will walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. We will walk in forgiveness. We will walk in healing, deliverance, and wholeness. We will walk in victory!

Though my loved one experienced a painful thing, God spared his life. God protected his mind. God protected his voice. God is showering and will continue to shower him with His love, peace, and joy. His destiny is sealed, and he will continue to walk in the purpose God has for him. He is covered by the precious, mighty, and powerful blood of Jesus.

This is our truth as well. Though we may go through situations that are extremely hard; though we may even question why that situation was allowed to happen, we can still rest on the solid promise that no weapon formed against us will prosper. It won’t work! And after God brings us through it and heals us, we become stronger and able to comfort others who will experience pain too. Everything may not make sense in the moment, but Romans 8:28 says God will work “all things together for good to those who love God”.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for who You are. Even though we may not understand why we experience painful, terrible things, we trust and believe that You love us, and that Your plans for us are to prosper us and not harm us. We thank You that Your hand is on our lives, protecting us, holding us. Let us experience Your love today like never before in Jesus’ name, Amen.
