Going Through Seasons of Isolation

Sometimes during our walk with God, we will go through seasons of isolation. It’s a place where we feel completely detached from what we’ve grown accustomed to – from the familiar. It’s an extremely uncomfortable place, but it’s necessary that we go through it. Unfortunately it’s a process that cannot be rushed. It may not feel like it at the time, but it is a time that is ordained by God, and He has a purpose for allowing us to go through it. It’s a time of transformation. And His grace is with us every moment.

After these seasons, God takes us to a new level. Scripture tells us we go from glory to glory. Maybe it’s a new job, maybe it’s healing or deliverance. Maybe it’s a deeper revelation of His word or a deepening relationship with Him; maybe it’s being restored or made whole in a specific area of your life. Maybe it’s a financial blessing. While we’re going through this transformative process, God is preparing us for the next level.

During this season, you may see God removing unhealthy relationships and situations that are not good for you. He will deliver you from habits or thought patterns that have been holding you back. He will stretch, develop, and strengthen you. You may learn to depend on Him in ways you never have before. He will give you fresh insight and clarity. He will teach you how to hear and know His voice. All of this is designed to bring you into alignment with His purpose and destiny for your life.

When you’re going through this challenging season, you may feel extremely lonely and alone sometimes. You may not always have someone that you can talk to about what you’re experiencing. It may feel like no one understands how you feel. Use these reminders to help you endure the process:

  • Remember that God is ordering your steps. He knows exactly where you are at all times and will make sure His destiny for your life is fulfilled.
  • Learn to encourage yourself. Have go-to scriptures and affirmations that you can stand on when things get really difficult and you feel your faith wavering.
  • All things are working together for your good. Everything you experience in life has purpose. Nothing is wasted. Not your pain, heartbreak, tears – even your victories and moments of sheer joy. God is using it all for your good.
  • Even when you don’t understand, trust God’s heart. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”. Another translation says God knows the thoughts He thinks towards you. You are on God’s mind constantly. Every second of every minute.

Be encouraged during your times of isolation. It may be difficult but hold on and remember God is doing something wonderful in you!

Heavenly Father, thank You for all that You are doing in us and through us. We trust and believe that You have us in the palm of Your hands. Thank You for giving us the strength to wait patiently on You during our season of isolation while You transform us. We know that the good work You began in us, You will complete. We give you glory and praise in Jesus’ name, Amen.
